Situated just fifteen minutes away by car from the historic town of St. Andrews, Hamnavoe Cottage is set in an idyllic location on top of Lucklawhill with panoramic views over the beautiful Fife countryside. It is an ideal retreat for those seeking peace and tranquillity. The views from the cottage and garden grounds are truly spectacular and take in the whole of the Eden estuary and St. Andrews bay, on a good day you can see as far up the east coast as Boarhills, some fifteen miles away. The cottage offers a great base to explore the beautiful Fife countryside and is a virtual treasure trove for walkers and nature lovers with hillside and woodland walks right on your doorstep, where you can spot a huge variety of birds and wildlife, there is also plenty of space for children to explore.

The cottage has been recently upgraded and is beautifully maintained and tastefully decorated throughout. The property boasts a large lounge with dining area, a well equipped kitchen with additional breakfast dining. There is a family bathroom with a large bath and separate shower enclosure. There is one double bedroom and one twin bedroom with quality linen and towels provided. The garden to the front of the house has seating to take in the spectacular views. There is also ample parking for guests and visitors.

The centre of St. Andrews is 7 miles away and the medieval – but at the same time cosmopolitan – town offers a lot more than golf itself, with its historic buildings, university, colourful boutique shops, bars and restaurants, not to mention its magnificent award winning beaches, the town is a virtual treasure trove of attractions for tourists of all ages. Dundee is 9 miles away in the other direction where you will find excellent shopping, theatres, museums, galleries, the historic ship RSS Discovery ship and the soon to be open V&A museum of design. Tentsmuir forest and beach are seven miles away, where there are beautiful walks and bird watching on offer at Morton Lochs. The picturesque fishing villages of the East Neuk are a half hour away by car.

Getting to St. Andrews, then onto Lucklawhill.

The East Coast Mainline Railway Station is at Leuchars, 2 miles away with direct links to Edinburgh, London, and Aberdeen.

Arriving by train,

  • Leuchars is the closest station. It is three miles away. there are normally taxis waiting in conjunction with the arrival of the trains.

Arriving by car,

  • From Edinburgh, head for the Forth Road Bridge , then join the M90 and stay on this road until junction 2A signposted Glenrothes,Kircaldy, this will take you on to the A92 where you can then follow the signs for Cupar, St. Andrews. Once you are through Cupar continue on the road until you reach Dairsie, once through Dairsieat the roundabout take the first exit left and follow the road to Balmullo.   • From Glasgow, leave Glasgow on the M8 and head for the Kincardine Bridge, once over the Kincardine Bridge take the A985 and head for Glenrothes,Kircaldy, this will take you on to the A92 where you can then follow signs for Cupar, St. Andrews. Once you are through Cupar continue on the road until you reach Dairsie, once through Dairsieat the roundabout take the first exit left and follow the road to Balmullo.   • From The North head to Dundee and cross the Tay Road Bridge, once over the bridge follow the signs for St. Andrews, At St. Michaels there is a crossroads at the St. Michaels inn, take a right here for Balmullo, continue at this road for two miles and take a left for Lucklawhill. Changeover Notes

Change over days for Hamnavoe Cottage, Lucklawhill, Nr St. Andrews

Variations do occur for changeover days, if you see something is available but cannot book it, then please contact the office, either by email or phone on info@apartmentsinstandrews.com or 01334 828688. We will try to be as accommodating as we can. If booking a short break your arrival and departure days can vary. If your booking is within two weeks of your arrival date the restrictions below may be relaxed. Please use the information below as a guide line when booking Hamnavoe Cottage.

All short breaks are a minimum three nights.

March to July

  • Friday and Monday changeovers with short breaks of three, four, five and six nights, for short breaks we do not allow Sunday as an arrival day. Changeovers for Graduation week will vary.

July and August

  • Saturday changeover. Full weeks only. Changeovers for the week of the British Open Championship may vary
August to November
  • Friday and Monday changeovers with short breaks of three, four, five and six nights, for short breaks we do not allow Sunday as an arrival day. Changeovers for the weeks of the Dunhill Championship and the Ryder Cup may vary
November to February 
  • Any arrival day apart from Sunday. Any departure day. Changeovers for the weeks of Christmas and Hogmany may vary, as may any school half term break.
